On his second album we find Gordon Leadfoot obsessively flipping the coin of hope in vain while the odds slowly but surely stack up. The psyche embedded in this collection is one marked by confusion, fear and long-simmering indignation. All of this boils over into slabs of raw punk rock (“Figurehead”), contemplative and mournful acoustic numbers (“Monument”, “Penny”), country-tinged ballads (“Mama”), and instrumental interludes (“Sonnenlied”). Mr. Leadfoot has been known to invite some talented pals to accompany him on his walkabouts, and this is no exception. The opening dispatch “Do The Vague” features Tony Lee (MF Ruckus) shredding a lead with reckless abandon and the lurching carnival ride of “Nucleation” features Randall Conrad Olinger on lead vocals. Also included on this album is a percussive rendition of JJ Cale’s “Any Way The Wind Blows”.
